Q Program Mode

This sets options for the drive when used with Q programs. The actual programs must be composed, tested and downloaded using our Q Programmer software

Q is Applied Motion’s programming language for sophisticated programs that are stored in the drive. These programs can also communicate with a host controller or HMI in real time. over RS-232 and RS-485. The RS-485 option allows you to have multi-axis multi-drop applications with the drives ”daisy chained” on one serial link. When this option is selected you will need to set an address for each drive you are working with.

Refer to the Host Command Reference for more information on how to send commands to drives on a multi-axis serial link.

Transmit Delay

If you are using a two wire RS-485 system, the drive(s) and the host both transmit data on the same pair of wires. You may need to adjust the transmit delay so that the drive gives your host time to disable its RS-485 driver before responding to a command. Otherwise you may have trouble receiving data from the drive. This is not a problem for RS-232 or four wire RS-485 applications because those systems have separate wires for transmitting data in each direction.

Communication Protocol

Several communication options are available in Q mode. Please refer to the Host Command Reference manual for more information.
